We are currently exploring whether VAT registration is required for us to operate an e-commerce company and engage with platforms such as Lazada, Shopee and Line shop. Would you have any experience of this, would you know whether VAT registration is something we need as a small e-commerce company in Thailand?
Panwa: As per our experience with e-commerce businesses, it is same with normal businesses which VAT is not normally required to register on the e-commerce platforms. Vat will only be required if income reaches baht 1.8 million, visa and work permit is needed, if the vendor or supplier requires and if you do business with Thai government.
